About this job
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
* 1. Assesses needs for educational programs to meet learning needs of all LGMC employees.
* 2. Researches issues and trends and identifies appropriate program content and needed training aids for quality improvement. Develops lesson plans, learning objectives and student materials accordingly.
* 3 Conducts, coordinates and/or facilitates educational programs based on identified learning needs; according to objectives and lesson plans including: leadership, general management and staff development, within budgetary guidelines.
* 4. Delivers training programs utilizing principles of adult education and group dynamics.
*5. Evaluates educational programs through formal & informal mechanisms; shares results with management. Recommends new courses or improvements based on feedback received.
6. Serves as liaison/consultant to internal departments regarding needed in-services and employee development.
7. Participates in hospital wide projects and committees; makes professional presentations outside the standard curriculum as needed.
8. Markets the services of the Education Department.
*9. Maintains accurate departmental records as related to educational programs.
*10. Adheres to departmental policies and procedures.
11. Submits information for departmental PI indicators within established time frames.
*12. Seeks opportunities to improve professional skills and departmental operations.
*13. Assists director in the completion of miscellaneous duties.
*14. Supports LGMC initiatives with regard to accrediting and other regulatory agencies (JCAHO, OSHA, etc.).
*15. Presents self in a professional manner.
*16. Functions in an organized and time conscious manner.
*17. Plans, coordinates and/or presents inservices geared to the needs of the Behavioral Health staff.
*18. Plans, coordinates and/or conducts orientation for newly hired LGMC staff.
* 19. Coordinates LGMC BLS classes and Community Training Center activities as related to LGMC.
* 20. Assist with coordination and presentation of ACLS and PALS Courses.
* 21. Assist with the coordination of clinical rotations for nursing students.
*22 Assist with overseeing the HealthStream System usage.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Required – Holds a RN license for the state of Virginia .
Preferred – BLS/ACLS Instructor status current with Instructor Trainer status in these areas encouraged.
EXPERIENCE
Required - One year as experienced trainer/educator with emphasis on course design and management
development programs. 5 years of recent clinical experience.
Preferred - Above plus experience in health care setting.
EDUCATION
Required – Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Preferred - Baccalaureate Degree and/or Masters degree in Adult Education or related field.
