Under the general supervision of the unit’s Director, or designee, the RN Clinical Supervisor assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions in the unit on his/her designated shifts. In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in unit.
The RN Clinical Supervisor assumes responsbility for direction and coordination of all functions during the designated shift. Functions as a resource person for staff members and assist in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff. They would also assume responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided when she/he is on duty. The Clinical Supervisor should make decisions regarding activities within these areas based on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards and Standards of Care for the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
Ensures implementation of operational standards which promote the maintenance of patient rights including, but not limited to: informed consent, clarification of patient expectations, explanation of treatment processes, maintenance of confidentiality of patient information, maintenance of patient privacy by minimizing exposure during all prodedures, adaptation of care to all ages of patients served, ethical condiseration, handling of patient complaints, ensures all LPN staff's patient records reflect an admission assessments & care plan performed by RN.
Actively participates in appropriate Department and Hospital committees and ensures that unit personnel are involved in this process as appropriate.
Assesses need for and assists in implementation of staff development programs to enhance professional growth of personnel.
Assumes administrative responsibilities for the provision of services on designated shift in collaboration with other members of the management team.
Communicates appropriately with other members of the health care team to promote continuity of care. Collaborates with preceptors and new employees, and facilitates new employees in becoming part of the team.
Involves general guidance and direction by Department Manager. The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Successfully completes general nursing and unit orientation. Effective communication skills; both orally and written. Computer skills needed. Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong problem solving skills. Excellent teamwork and customer service skills.
Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Utah. Maintains current BLS certification, ACLS and NRP certification.
BSN preferred
Requires a minimum of two (2) years RN experience but prefer three (3) years experience. Leadership and management experience is highly desirable.
