Sole practitioner is seeking self-motivated Legal Assistant/Paralegal candidates who are detailed-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks across a number of case related matters. Candidates should have solid experience with all phases of discovery, trial preparation, familiarity with litigation, solid communication skills, time management skills and the ability to proofread documents.
Duties will include:
* Drafting pleadings, notices, subpoenas, discovery management and correspondence
* Ordering, reviewing and summarizing medical records and medical billing
* Overseeing all pre-litigation functions on personal injury cases
* Document review and organization
* File organization and maintenance
* Minimal Westlaw research
* Creating invoices and billing client files
* Phones
* Dictation/Transcription
* Client contact
* Maintains calendar and scheduling for attorney
* Schedule depositions
* Office management
* Order and maintain office supplies
* Maintains confidentiality and acts in a professional manner
Requirements:
* Qualified candidates must have 3+ years of experience in a legal environment, either corporate or law firm.
* Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Westlaw.
* The ability to prepare medical record summaries, obtain medical records from various providers, communicate with clients, experts and outside counsel in a professional manner and manage/maintain cases with minimal supervision.
* Candidates must have a flexible demeanor and enjoy working both independently and directly with an attorney.
