R&D Chemistry/Lab Technician
Shift: 1st - 8AM - 5PM or 8AM - 4:30PM
Pay: $12.50/hr
Duration: Contract, based on performance / eligibility of benefits through Aerotek
Background, Drug Test & Physical Required
**Must be able to lift 20lbs and purchase steel-toed boots.
JOB SCOPE/ SUMMARY:
∙ Prepare, test and compare experimental samples
∙ Provide and maintain accurate data and records for raw material evaluations, new product projects and product improvement projects
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Follow basic lab safety guidelines and regulations
2. Take direction from supervisor and complete assignments in a timely manner
3. Prepare samples using laboratory dispersion and blending equipment
4. Conduct standard tests following Standard Test Procedures including, but not limited to, viscosity, ICI, gloss, tint strength, density, pH, and scrub tests
5. Record and report test results
6. Report problems associated with test equipment or test processes
7. Clean and maintain test equipment, and work area
8. Perform basic laboratory maintenance including, but not limited to, pourback, stocking lab supply, adhesion panel preparation, clean-up
9. Alert supervisors to low levels of raw materials or supplies for projects
10. Maintain regular communication with supervisor
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES RECOMMENDED FOR POSITION:
* BS in Chemistry Required
* Knowledge of basic lab skills
* Knowledge of lab safety guidelines and regulations
* Ability to understand and follow defined testing methods and accurately complete test records
* Communication, filing and some computer skills are required
No professional certifications needed. Medical certifications needed: Non- DOT physical, Back x-ray, vision test, and audiogram
