Seeking a senior developer with mainframe cobol and distributed Java/J2EE experience to work in the application development area.Qualifications:- Able to analyze business requirements and create high level technical design documents and technical specifications for assigned applications, in accordance with company architecture standards.- Strong skills in developing complex solutions using Java or cobol.- Knowledge in designing applications solutions on either distributed or mainframe platforms.- Assist in establishing the strategic technical direction for assigned applications; and participate in department wide initiatives to address long term business, technical, and performance goals.- Ability to analyze and review other developers’ code (recommend improvements when necessary); resolve application and production defects; and support testing efforts.- Interact well and build long-term relationships with teammates, clients, business partners, management and other BT teams in different work environments.- Understanding Agile practices and methodologies is a plus.Responsibilities:- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for assigned applications. This entails providing input and consulting assistance for any project involving application components, making certain that the availability and performance are not jeopardized by any changes or new projects, and identifying opportunities to improve the applications (performance, availability, flexibility) and working with the appropriate team(s) to include these changes in project efforts.- Act as a technical consultant for application related topics. This includes providing input and consulting assistance to project technical resources, performing design and code reviews as applicable.- Act as the technical lead to drive projects to successful completion. This includes analysis of business requirements and subsequent creation of high level technical design documents and technical specifications in accordance with company architecture standards, development of application code as necessary, and overseeing and leading the development activities of other developers (both employee and contractors).- Help integrate the Agile (Scrum) methodology on development efforts. Help plan the Agile sprints and corresponding releases with the Scrum Master and other agile team members, including providing high level point evaluation/sizing for user stories.
