JOB SUMMARY:
·
Reports to VP, Associate
General Counsel.
·
Position to be based at
DaVita’s corporate headquarters in Denver Colorado.
·
Individual will provide
approximately 70% of their time as the lead Health Care
Regulatory attorney for
HealthCare Partners, and 30% of their time providing legal guidance associated
with health care laws to business partners on the Kidney Care side of the
business.
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
·
Provide regulatory
counsel on a variety of health care matters with an emphasis on health care
fraud and abuse, integrated care, Medicare Advantage Agreements, HCC-RAF Coding
regulatory and related issues, managed care, management services agreements,
physician relationships, regulatory, licensing, and a full gamut of agreements.
· Analyzing and assisting
in appropriately structuring, and negotiating business relationships,
transactions and strategic alliances for compliance with applicable healthcare
and fraud and abuse laws.
·
Assisting with internal
investigations related to potential health care and fraud and abuse issues.
·
Developing a thorough
understanding of and familiarity with the HealthCare Partners and Kidney Care
businesses, their people, markets, facilities, customers and competitors in
order to identify trends and formulate appropriate advice, structures and
strategies.
·
Establishing a rapport
and working relationship with business managers in order to encourage and
continue the proactive use of in-house legal counsel.
·
Performing special
assignments or projects as assigned by the Associate General Counsel and HCP
General Counsel
·
Assist Associate General
Counsel with budget preparation, budget management and teammate matters.
·
Work closely on special
projects with the HealthCare Partners General Counsel.
·
Support and collaborate
with other areas of the JLD and Compliance as needed.

J.D.
Degree with a minimum of 9 years of legal experience in health care regulatory law.
·
Strong
understanding of relevant health care compliance issues (i.e., Medicare
Advantage, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark, Beneficiary Inducement, False Claims
Act).
·
Understanding
of fraud and abuse, as well as regulatory issues specific to managed care, is a
plus.
·
Strong
communication skills, both written and oral.
·
Experience
managing outside counsel and paralegals.

and strong interpersonal skills; one whose counsel and judgment are

Outstanding

A
