SUMMARY of the Position:

The Lead position is responsible for providing a well stocked and maintained department while providing superior customer service. This position is responsible for supervisory responsibilities such as scheduling, training and Partner development.

RESPONSIBILITIES of the position:

- May serve as backup to department manager and typically works opposite shift to manager

- May help prepare work schedules for department

- Provides work direction and training to other departmental personnel

- Directly supervises 2 to 3 employees in the department

- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws

- Responsibilities include training employees; directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems

- Compliance with departmental SOPS and store operating procedures

- Assist with inventory control; loads, unloads, and moves product

- Merchandises products effectively

- Provide excellent customer service

- Answers customer questions regarding products and assists them with selections

- Uses suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build department sales

- Clean and sanitize sales floor, display cases, prep areas and equipment

- Performs duties of Representative and Specialist frequently

ADDITIONAL DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC RESONSIBILITIES of the position:

BAKERY:

- Assist in technical areas as needed (e.g. baking, frying, and decorating)

- Takes cake orders from customers by telephone or in person

- Writes on cakes with icing on request

- Slices, packages, labels, and rotates bakery products

- Makes announcements to inform customers of freshly baked products

COSMETICS:

- Knowledge of beauty and cosmetic aids

DELI:

- Handle guest transactions & takes orders

- Slices, packages, and labels product

-Weighs, prices, and packages selections

DRUGSTORE/GENERAL MERCHANDISE:

- Builds, stocks, maintain, and take down store displays

- Prepares tags and signs as needed

- Checks shipments for out-of-date and damaged products

ENTERTAINMENT:

- Knowledge in the audio/video field

- Knowledge of specialty products, Movies, Music, Electronics and Video games

FLORAL:

- Designs floral arrangements

- Designs and executes merchandising programs

MARKET:

-Cuts, trims, and prepares meat for service meat counter and self-service counter

-Ensures proper product rotation & storage

-Maintains coolers and freezers

-Weighs, prices, and packages selections

-Operates power meat prep and process equipment

PREPARED FOODS:

- Serves and packages products at customer's request

- Educates customers in preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods

- Prepackages condiments (sauces, dressings) for prepared food items

- Cuts, slices, dices, chops, food in preparation for chef

PRODUCE:

- Stocks and rotates product to ensure freshness

- Assist floral department when needed

- Communicate product knowledge to customers by explaining and sampling

- Cut, wrap, and price produce to be placed on sales floor

- Maintain signing program

SEAFOOD:

- Knowledge of various fish and shellfish

- Prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product

- Weighs, prices, and packages selections

- Maintains coolers and freezers

SERVICE/CENTRAL CHECKOUT:

Direct the traffic flow of customers through check-out lanes

- Manage efficient break and lunch schedules for service Partners

- Approves and reviews financial transactions (override capabilities)

TEXAS BACKYARD:

- Knowledge of Agriculture

- Certified or working on certification as a Master Gardner

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE preferred:

- Must be 18 years of age

- Company orientation

- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
