About this job

Job Summary: Provides frontline leadership for HEB Transportation

safety program across multiple locations. Daily actions focus on training,

accident/citation review and resolution, and regulatory and policy compliance,

with interactions primarily with Safety Department team members, drivers, and

Operations leadership.

Essential Functions /

Process Responsibilities

include

the following; other duties may be assigned as necessary

Training, Development And Customer Service

Identifies

potential Transportation safety issues or impacts caused by regulatory changes

Implements

innovative transportation safety plans and education programs and reviews them

for quality, content, compliance and consistency

Supervise and

provides HEB Delivery Driver Trainee, Spotter, CDL, and Relief Driver training

programs

Conducts

regularly scheduled safety meetings with Drivers and Transportation operations leadership

Represents HEB in

State and local safety/transportation organizations

Facilitates

company sponsored and/or sanctioned driver competitions at all levels

Liaison between

Transportation and store operations

Attends

Transportation and driver related seminars, conferences, competitions

Participate in

continuing education courses on Safety, OSHA, Transportation Topics or Job

Skill enhancement courses

Accident/Citation Review And

Resolution

Provides support

and responds to accidents and/or weather or other emergency situations

involving Transportation

Conducts both

accident investigation and reconstruction to determine factors contributing to

accident other safety related incidents involving state, local and Federal

transportation authorities

Communicates

accident findings and recommendations to Leadership

Participates in

driver accident/citation appeal process

Regulatory And Policy

Compliance

Maintains HEB

safety policies and ensures compliance with respect to Federal, State and Local

transportation regulations

Responsible for

monitoring driver qualification files for accuracy and compliance.

Responsible for

ensuring pre-employment, random, post-accident or reasonable suspicion drug and

alcohol testing is performed in accordance with company as well as legal and

regulatory guideline

Performs driver

citation review and audits with motor carrier profile from the US DOT and

TXDPS

Liaison officer

for all Federal, State, and local officials

Monitors and

works with Operations leadership on permissible driver hours in accordance with

Federal hours of service rules and regulations

Experience

and Education Preferred

Bachelor's degree preferred

Minimum of 5

years experience in transportation or law enforcement safety related field

Advanced

knowledge of Federal/State motor carrier regulations preferred including (OSHA,

DOT, State, and EPA)

Receives/maintains

certification from approved safety/compliance organization (preferred)

Key Competencies preferred

Advanced written

and verbal communication skills; demonstrated experience with presentations to

superiors, peers, and subordinates Proven decision making, reasoning and

analytical skills

Intermediate PC

skills to include MS Office, Word, Excel, Email and familiarity with keyboard,

mouse, and general PC accessories

Advanced

multi-tasking and attention to detail skills required

Advanced

analytical & influencing skills

Demonstrated

experience in process improvement analysis and review
