DUTIES:

This position is currently a limited-intermittent position with a possibility of becoming a permanent-intermittent position.

The Air Resources Board (ARB), referred to as 'The Board', is a dynamic and innovative leader in setting and implementing controls to protect and improve air quality for the citizens of California. The Board's scientific and technical programs rely extensively on web-based information systems.

The mission of the Office of Information Services (OIS) is to leverage the most effective information technologies available to achieve the Air Resources Board's (ARB) program goals. The mission includes ensuring that such technologies are professionally managed, properly maintained and efficiently used.

The Enterprise Systems Management (ESM) Section within OIS has responsibility for architecting and supporting the back-end infrastructure, databases, applications, web servers and systems software used to host all of Air Resources Board's (ARB’s) Program areas. The Enterprise Server Unit within the ESM Section provides technology expertise and oversees all phases of the Project Life Cycle for ARB’s enterprise hosting environment, including responsibility for system design, specifications, capacity planning, testing, deployment, documentation and maintenance.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the position serves as the primary analyst and technical specialist responsible for maintaining, restoring, and backing up data for all ARB locations, including offsite replication and snapshots.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Highly desirable qualifications include: 1) a love of information technology, 2) excellence in customer service, 3) a solid understanding of personal computer hardware and Microsoft operating systems, 4) a basic understanding of network and/or data communcations, 5) a continuous desire to learn, 6) a positive attitude, and 7) the ability to manage your time effectively. Desirable qualifications include: 1) Window Server experience, and 2) writing and documentation skills.
