Leads implementation of EHS strategies in region to achieve business and customer objectives; builds EHS strength in the region by developing site personnel and management systems to achieve compliance, continuously improve performance, leverage EHS resources, and meet customer requirements; collaborates with regional leadership and operations, functional and commercial staff; reviews capital projects and new product development for EHS risks and opportunities; supports and implements BU EHS communications and recognition programs; collaborates in industry and regional governmental EHS activities to share knowledge, influence decision-making, and promote brand; collaborates with peers in GOSCNA/DSO and other BUs to share knowledge and best practices across the organization.
Principle Accountabilities:
50% - Support plant leadership by implementing programs, & procedures at locations to support excellence in performance, consistency between locations and cost efficiency.
15% - Conduct/Support EHS Auditing.
15% - Monitor and report leading and lagging EHS performance indicators and ensure high visibility of same across region.
20% - Lead COE as Subject Matter Expert for assigned disciplines.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in EHS or related field
• 3 years EHS experience with EHS responsibilities for multiple or complex locations
• Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and ensure that plans, guidance and advice is accurate, timely & effective.
• Ability to quickly gather & analyze facts & input from all stakeholders, provide clear guidance & build consensus on solutions & be able to customize for specific locations & unique circumstances.
• Ability to coach and work directly with plant superintendents and supervisors at each location providing support at the level they need to fulfill their EHS responsibilities.
• Computer Skills: Microsoft Office
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to travel up to 30%
Preferred Qualifications:
• CSP or other EHS related certification
• Large project construction safety related experience
• EHS Auditing experience
• Regulatory agency interaction (permitting, enforcement negotiation)
• Understanding of environmental compliance and safety issues related to oilseed or grain processing
• Behavioral safety program experience
• Environmental permit/program knowledge (Title V, SPCC/FRP, SWP3, UST, etc.)
• IH (industrial hygiene) knowledge
