PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Security Officer has the general responsibility for the protection of personnel and property of California Pacific Medical Center through patrols and monitoring of the premises, observing and reporting suspicious and unauthorized activities and unsafe conditions. The officer is responsible for access control, control of keys and emergency response and notification. The officer renders assistance and security related services to the hospital staff, physicians, patients, and visitors, including restraining violent patients. The officer investigates and documents incidents relative to the Medical Center and provides necessary liaison between hospital staff and local law enforcement agencies. The officer coordinates with other Integrated Service staff for necessary services under their responsibility. The officer is a representative of the Medical Center and is expected to conduct him or herself in a professional manner at all times. Customers include employees, physicians, volunteers, patients, their families and friends, vendors, payers, and anyone who makes contact with the Medical Center by telephone, correspondence or by entering our doors.
High school diploma or equivalent required; college diploma preferred
Guard/Patrolperson Registration or "Guard Card" from the State of California is required
Previous Security or related public service required
Knowledge of California Penal Code with regard to citizen's arrest
Valid Driver's License with no DUI or at fault accidents required
Law enforcement background strongly preferred
Operating knowledge of hand-held radios
Ability to operate vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions
Computer skills; Windows, Word and Excel typing skills preferred
Must be able to stand and/or walk for periods up to 2 hours, walk up hills, climb 12 flights of stairs, and able to lift and carry 50 pounds
Candidate will be required to pass a criminal and educational background check as well as a pre-employment physical which includes a drug screening
