What You Will Do as a Sr. Project Manager:
The Sr. Project Manager, will be accountable for managing customer and / or internal
implementation projects for NaviSite with a primary focus on Managed Application solutions and a
secondary focus of Managed Hosting infrastructure solutions. Customer application and
infrastructure solution projects range from 2 – 24 weeks and are performed by a matrix team of 4-20
technical engineering and subject matter expert resources. A typical project is the installation of physical
or virtual hardware/software components for network, website, email, security, data storage systems,
applications and / or collaboration suite upgrade or implementation software for the customer
organization.
Each sr. project manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of multiple customer
implementation projects simultaneously. The Project Manager is a key customer-facing manager during
implementation projects and is accountable for the successful delivery of the customer services and
proper transition of the same to NaviSite operations for ongoing support.
The Sr. Project Manager will have the following responsibilities:
Accountable for successful management and deployment of customer application and
infrastructure implementation projects on behalf of NaviSite.
Oversee and coordinate multiple teams of technical engineering and application subject matter
expert resources to perform upgrade, installation, testing and deployment tasks
Manage multiple customer projects simultaneously
Develop project plans, specifications, and other related project administration tasks
Work directly with NaviSite customers at multiple levels to perform implementation and application testing activities
Management and maintenance of overall customer satisfaction through the lifecycle of the project
Development of strong customer partnerships and ability to support collaborative project
environments
Oversee project execution, including but not limited to:
- Conducting project launch meetings
- Gather and document the customer’s technical, functional and business requirements
- Developing detailed project plans
- Managing and monitoring project issues, risks and escalations
- Tracking/managing projects from initiation to successful completion
- Communicating project status on a timely and regular basis
- Resolving project issues, problems, and changes
- Provide support for implementation testing cycles as required
- Leading projects to overall success
Oversee quality assurance, testing and compliance components for application and infrastructure
implementation projects
Prepare formal status reports on a regular basis for customer and NaviSite management
Provide feedback and insight to management to ensure lessons learned from each project is the
basis for future projects and continuous process improvement to facilitate reduced install intervals
for implementation project efforts.
What We Are Looking For in a Sr. Project Manager:
The position of Sr. Project Manager requires strong project management skills and knowledge of
successful business practices and current computer technologies including data center operations.
3 plus years a project manager within the consulting industry
Past experience of leading, managing and participating in cross-functional IT projects is required
Past experience managing at least 3 - 5 full life cycle Oracle Suite of Products or Messaging and Collaboration
Exchange or other application and infrastructure implementation or upgrade projects is required
Experience in small, mid, and large-scale project management, including the management of
simultaneous project teams.
Ability to develop strong professional relationships and to influence peers, managers and other
teams
Strong written and oral communication
Strong facilitation skills
Strong project planning tool skills (Microsoft Project preferred) Strong issue and risk management skills
Working knowledge of Project and ITIL Management Best Practices
Ability to multi-task between concurrent assignments and to work in a fast pace organization
Process driven with a strong attention to detail
Working knowledge of ITIL best practices preferred
Business and/or Technical bachelors degree (or equivalent)
7+ years past experience in related businesses and fields
Travel Requirements: This position does require travel, but generally, 20% or less
