Accounting Clerk

Position is contingent upon award of the project

Essential Responsibilities:

Performs highly repetitive and routine clerical duties within assigned segment of accounting, working in accordance with clearly prescribed procedures and under close supervision.

Performs all required clerical duties in area of assignment.

Checks and verifies data received for completeness and accuracy and notify supervisor of discrepancies.

Sorts, matches, and processes documents in accordance with established procedures.

Prepares various documents for data entry.

Performs data entry from data as presented.

Answers phone, takes and relays messages.

Processes incoming and/or send out mail as required.

Operates duplicating equipment, adding machine, calculator and other office equipment.

Views source documents/invoices for accuracy, matches invoices with appropriate supporting documentation, and prepares accounting entries for data input.

Performs calculations and account reconciliations.

Uses the general ledger accounting system and other approved automated data processing programs to perform assigned duties.

Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds.

Constant sitting while using the computer terminal.

Constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents.

Constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication.

Constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Minimum Requirements:

A minimum of a High school diploma or GED coupled with 2 years of job-related experience.

Currently holds or ability to successfully obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications:

Good written communication skills;

Working knowledge of word-processing and accounting software applications;

Organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required
