Job Title: Senior Accountant, Retail Shared Services Location: Lyndhurst, NJ Reports to: Manager, Shared Services Retail Accounting SUMMARYThe position of Senior Accountant, Retail Shared Services offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment at a Fortune 500 global leader in the retail industry. The successful candidate must possess well-rounded accounting knowledge and experience, along with strong inter-personal skills. The primary responsibilities will be to perform all detailed general ledger accounting functions and analysis for certain areas/divisions of the Companys Retail business. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for providing accounting assistance in support of all facets of the closing and reporting process, streamlining procedures, and assisting in the ongoing review of the SOX internal control process for the Retail segment. This individual will also be involved in a number of ad-hoc projects. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:· Maintain and close SAP general ledger for various retail divisions on a monthly basis· Analyze and prepare journal entries and accruals· Prepare monthly income statements and balance sheets· Prepare monthly detail reconciliations and account analysis· Accumulate and review the monthly financial results and prepare variance analysis, as appropriate· Partner with the Financial Planning & Analysis teams to perform close activities and review results· Assist in the design and implementation of process improvements and best practices· Maintain and review documented procedures and ensure compliance with SOX requirements · Assist in the accumulation and preparation of the monthly reporting package containing information required for external filing and the quarterly and annual audits · Assist with ad-hoc assignments and special projects KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES· Results orientated, flexible, resourceful, and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple deliverables· Strong analytical and organizational skills· Strong verbal and written communication skills· Must be capable of working at a detailed level in a hands-on environment· Strong time-management skills, and ability to adhere to tight deadlines during the month-end close process· Experienced in managing and driving improvements and change within a finance function· Ability to work independently and take ownership of work completed· Proficiency in Excel and other applications · Experience with Hyperion/Essbase and SAP general ledger a plus· Retail or Wholesale experience a plus (but not required)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE · 3-5 years of experience Public/private accounting mix, with Big 4 audit firm experience preferred· BS in Accounting; MBA a plus · CPA or working toward CPA
