Job Summary To assist with research activities within the Depression Center primarily for multiple studies in bipolar disorder and depression. With guidance from senior faculty and research personnel, the research technician associate will handle organizational and administrative details of assigned projects, including but not limited to screening and scheduling of potential research subjects along with the procedures required for inclusion into all studies. Coordinate study visits and long-term follow-up of study participants with some oversight of day-to-day operation of project. Collect data and enter into appropriate systems for future analysis. Assist in preparation of IRB applications, progress reports and other summary materials. Perform literature searches and copying articles. The potential exists to assist in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentations at conferences and workshops. The associate will work collaboratively and also independently with other team members to fulfill the goals of the project.

Responsibilities* Telephone activity includes: screening calls for subject recruitment, scheduling patients for appointments and coordinating research clinician schedules. Assisting study coordinators in completing and ordering materials; tracking research related supplies, preparing large weekly mailings, detailed record-keeping, data entry and verification, filing, processing of biological materials, and other duties as assigned.

Demonstrated multi-tasking skills and ability to organize workload are essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications* Requires the academic knowledge in a health science, or social science discipline that is generally associated with a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications* The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience. Academic knowledge of a health science discipline, such as public health, psychology, social work or related behavioral sciences. Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and willingness to learn and develop additional computer skills related to data management and preparation of data for analysis. Previous clinical or research experience in a human science field is desired, but not required.
