JOB DESCRIPTION:
Direct West Natural Resources LLP is seeking candidates for Full Time - 92 Silviculture and Forestry Workers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assess site, select seedlings and plant trees using manual planting tools in reforestation areas
* Operate power thinning saw to thin and space trees in reforestation areas
* Complete firefighting reports and maintain firefighting equipment
* Operate chain saw to thin young forest stands
* Control weeds and undergrowth in regenerating forest stands using manual tools and chemicals
* Dig trenches, cut trees, pump water on burning areas to fight forest fires under direction of fire suppression officer or forestry technician
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school or college with First Aid, Forest Fire Fighting and forestry experience, or other specialized program for silviculture or Graders tickets, Silviculture Surveyers Tickets, Forest Supervisory, Fallers Tickets or ENFORM. Formal training in power saw operation and maintenance.
EXPERIENCE and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* 2 to 3 years forestry experience.
* This position is in an outdoor environment
* Operate a wide range of heavy equipment
