A day in the life…

As a Nordstrom Assistant Department Manager in Training, you’ll wear many hats—you’ll be a mentor, your team’s biggest fan, you’ll be a salesperson, as well as a driver of business. In this role, you’ll set the example by…
  • Being all about your team—from assisting in the recruiting, hiring and training process, to developing and motivating them. You’ll lead by example how to deliver amazing customer service every day while developing future leaders.
  • Using your broad knowledge of business skills to assist in creating a solid business plan that enables your team to work together to meet department, store and individual goals as well as maintain accurate inventory.
  • Assist in ensuring the department merchandising is inspirational for customers and presentations standards are met through re-merchandising.
  • Sharing your knowledge and excitement about the latest product with your team and with your customers while maintaining a regular floor presence and building your own customer relationships.

You own this if you…
  • Are motivated by healthy competition, excel in a team environment and always make sure to celebrate the wins.
  • Have a successful track record leading and motivating teams to be the best they can be in a retail environment.
  • Are a dedicated teacher and coach who wants to help your employees develop and take on larger roles within the company.
  • See the world through the eyes of an entrepreneur and are excited by the power of metrics to drive business and identify new opportunities.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment thanks to your strong people, organizational and delegation skills, follow-through and ability to juggle competing priorities.
  • Have solid written and verbal skills, as well as strong math skills — quick, what’s 33 percent off of $135?
  • Embrace a flexible schedule based on department and store business needs.
