Art Director II Agency

The Senior Art Director’s primary responsibility is to aid in the creation of exceptional Consumer Promotion and Shopper Marketing collateral for Client, Agency and New Business initiatives. The Senior Art Director is a hands-on, organized and creative individual with the skills and ability to take a concept and turn it into a tangible reality. Position Summary

The Senior Art Director will partner with account leaders in strategic brainstorming sessions to define project assignments and to develop and execute creative solutions.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the creative direction and goals for specific projects, ensuring they fit the client, the brand, the retailer and the business objectives.
  • Work on several projects at a time and exercise a range of creative styles – agency and client initiatives as well as new business opportunities.
  • Oversee junior members and work collaboratively with other creative team to help develop the team’s knowledge and understanding of the clients’ business and marketing, while helping to coach and develop junior members.
  • Partner with account leaders in strategic brainstorming, offering creative solutions and presenting creative rationale that is in line with clients’/retailers’ objectives.

Strong understanding and utilization of proper safety techniques and correct use of equipment when appropriate.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct Reports

Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

Indirect Reports

May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

Travel and Driving are essential duties and function of this job

Travel up to 10 % of time on annualized basis

Minimum QualificationsMinimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Education Level: (Required): Bachelor's Degreein advertising, Graphic Design, Marketing or related field or equivalent experience



Field of Study/Area of Experience: This position requires 5 to 8 years’ experience in a similar industry, with a least 2 years of experience in the arena of marketing promotions, and 3 years of consumer products, media and/or agency experience.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Experience in managing copywriters or directing art/design (advertising, promotion, and interactive media)
  • Ability to efficiently utilize computer tools (MAC), including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, QuarkXPress, Acrobat and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Entourage) Knowledge of production, file preparation and formatting.
  • Analytical and research Skills
  • Develop client relationships and have the ability to present to clients and express creative rationale.
  • Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports
  • Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to direct, lead, coach, and develop people

Office / Sedentary Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
