The Health Advocate provides telephonic coaching to health plan members in a call center environment. Health advocates develop relationships with health plan members to facilitate needed medical services. They will collaboratively work with nurses and social workers to meet the needs of the members. During the call, Health Advocates look to establish a personal plan focusing on educating members on the benefits of completing required health screenings. Health Advocates are supported by online curriculum, call frameworks, and skill enhancement tools.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage health plan population through following a standardized call script to help complete the scheduling of health screenings
  • Assist consumers' progression through the stages of behavioral change. Ability to empathize, motivate, and encourage people towards healthy changes, regardless of culture, religion, economic background
  • Organizational skills as well as prioritization of workload necessary for the health advocate role
  • Performance measured frequently by Quality audit tools including recorded call and screen activity
  • Solves complex problems and develops innovative solutions to meet/exceed the needs of the health plan members
  • Build a strong understanding of the medical/insurance industry
  • Communicate by phone in a professional and friendly manner
  • Communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 2+ years of Customer Service Experience.
  • Previous experience utilizing Microsoft Office in a Professional setting.
  • Experience in direct health education and/or health coaching with individuals for disease prevention, health promotion and/or behavior change or related role (i.e. medical technicians, LVN, LPN, Health nutrition specialist, health educators, fitness coaches, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree.
  • Call Center experience.
  • Experience working with Medicare and/or Medicaid.
  • Experience with ICUE and EVI systems.
