General Summary

This position is directly responsible for managing the Office, Stockroom and Guest Services areas and supervising Lead associates in the Stockroom and at Guest Services. The

Responsibilities

of this position include, but are not limited to, the completion of Human Resources paperwork, the daily report, payroll, supervision and maintenance of an efficient flow of goods through the stockroom. Additionally, the Operations Manager will act in a lead capacity for the Guest Services function by providing daily direction to Cashiers and Guest Services Associates in order to achieve excellent Guest Service. The Store Stockroom and all of its activities, especially truck receiving and processing will be managed by the Operations Manager. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Operations Manager, when designated, has the responsibility for the overall operation of the store. This position will oversee all essential job functions of the Front Office, Stockroom and Guest Services areas. The Operations Manager directly supervises the Guest Services Lead and Stockroom Lead and oversees full and part time associates. The Operations Manager is also responsible for maintaining the shoes and maternity departments.

Responsibilities


1. Promotes the Gordmans Guest experience making sure that every guest receives prompt and friendly service through personal example and by providing direction as needed to Cashiers and Guest Services Associates. Ensures that all Associates understand expectations and execute the Delighting Our Guest Standards and the Guest Loyalty programs and initiatives.
2. Train, schedule and supervise all Stockroom and Guest Services associates. This includes making daily work assignments, giving timely feedback to all associates in these areas regarding performance. Provide input to Store Manager for the purpose of Performance Appraisal and individual development of associates.
3. Oversee the computer-based time clock system for payroll purposes.
4. Monitor, record and control store expenses using company provided tools while operating within earned percent sales goals.
5. Maintains confidentiality of store financial, sales and company information at all times.
6. Follows company stockroom procedures to optimize productivity in the stockroom and achieve established payroll objectives.
7. Ensures that the store is properly staffed by maintaining high standards in the assisting of the recruitment and selection of associates. Uses the company tools and guidelines in associate selection. Follows up that all associates are fully trained with the corporate training programs. Maintains a quality work environment that encourages the personal development and retention of associates. This is to be accomplished working together with the Store Manager.
8. Encourages the growth and personal development of direct reports through effective training, prioritization, mentoring, communication, delegation, and personal example in order to promote talent within the organization.
9. Manages the annual physical inventory process.
10. Follow company policies and procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
11. Must be at work on a regular and predictable basis or as scheduled. All Management staff and Leads are required to close a minimum of one evening shift per week. They are also required to work one shift per weekend OR both days every other weekend (this is determined by the Store Manager).
12. Open Availability -- When business needs dictate it, Management and Leads must be flexible in terms of working hours and/or work schedule in order to manage the organization’s workflow (this includes nights and weekends).
13. Perform monthly safety inspections of the building.
14. Properly maintains the facilities according to Gordmans standards.
15. Manage the process of ordering supplies as needed from authorized vendors.
16. Perform other related job duties and special projects as may be assigned by upper management.
17. Completes all yearly developmental training requirements for Assistant Operations Managers.

Education and Qualifications


1. Ability to sufficiently understand the English language in order to communicate with individuals at all levels in the company and with various business contacts outside of the company in an articulate, professional manner. Ability to read price tag information; ability to sufficiently comprehend English language to read guest checks, guest identification, and similar written materials.
2. Knowledge of Company services, products, policies and procedures.
3. Knowledge of POS system operation and troubleshooting techniques.
4. Knowledge of Kronos time and attendance system.
5. Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background screen.
6. Ability to resolve guest issues in a professional, diplomatic manner.
7. Ability to conduct the interview; also select, hire, train and develop talented individuals.
8. Ability to teach and train associates on the sales floor and on occasion, physically work with them.
9. Ability and desire to motivate and lead others towards the accomplishment of store and company objectives.
10. Knowledge of management principles and the ability to apply those principles to the management of exempt and associate populations. These principles refer to the “soft skills” that great managers utilize to manage people. Included but not limited to motivation, planning, organizing, delegating, controlling, communicating and resolving conflict.
11. Has the skill set to execute all functions contained within the Assistant Operations Manager Functional Schedule.
12. Associate’s Degree or retail management experience.
13. Minimum of 5 years retail or guest services experience required.
