DESCRIPTION:

The primary responsibility of the CNC programmer is to create and manage CNC machine programs to accurately and efficiently create parts.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supports the written quality objectives as stated in the Quality Manual of the company.
  2. Works with the Engineering department to convert CAD designs to CNC programs.
  3. Works with the Engineering department to select cutting tools and work holding apparatus.
  4. Works with Purchasing and Operations departments to develop efficient lot sizing and job scheduling.
  5. Works with Quality department to ensure high quality output.
  6. Develops safety policies for safe machine operation.
  7. Writes machine setup documents.
  8. Responsible for machine log sheets.
  9. Supervises periodic maintenance of machines.
  10. Informs the Operations Manager of potential delays and issues.
  11. Supports the corporate and department goals.
  12. Performs other duties as directed by the Operations Manager.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Two year technical degree or equivalent in experience.
  2. Two years GibbsCAM experience.
  3. Experience with SolidWorks/GibbsCAM interface preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

  1. Must be capable of working with minimum supervision.
  2. Must have excellent organizational abilities.
  3. Must have excellent problem solving abilities.
  4. Must have working knowledge of common office software.
  5. Experience with Cincinnati and or Haas CNC machines a plus.
