Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of System Technician will safely install, maintain, repair, move, replace, modify, upgrade, troubleshoot, diagnose, adjust, calibrate and perform preventive maintenance on industrial and commercial equipment and devices used in production, laboratory, office and utility areas. Provide support as needed to Production, Division Engineering, PI&C Engineering in the layout, facilitating, planning, and documenting the installation, maintenance, repair, replacement, modification, troubleshooting, diagnosing, programming, optimization and design of existing and new manufacturing equipment and all the associated control of that equipment. Provide Production, Division Engineering, PI&C Engineering and Plant Engineering advanced systems expertise with the ability to program, install and optimize new equipment and controls.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Troubleshoot/repair mechanical equipment and components:

- Repair, replace and/or adjust/align: bearings and bushings, gear boxes and transmissions, align motors adjust pump seals, clutches, brakes and drive components, align couplings, valves, circuit boards, components, relays and motor starters, transducer, solenoids, AC and DC motors, variable frequency drives and switches (flow, photo, proximity, level, pressure, etc.)

- Splice conveyor belts

- Perform basic machining

- Troubleshoot/repair pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, hydraulic/pneumatic motors, pumps and control valves

- Troubleshoot, repair and make standard adjustments to mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and machinery including fixed and variable speed power transmission systems and reciprocating piston equipment

- Set up and operate shop equipment and portable power tools

- Use precision measuring equipment for machining

- Troubleshoot/repair/replace encoders and tachometers, AC and DC drive controls

- Adjust, replace, and repair web steering systems; adjust, calibrate and repair tension controls

- Maintain pumps: Maintain, rebuild and replace vacuum pumps, hydraulic pumps, chemical feed pumps, centrifugal pumps, gear pumps, vane pumps, auger and screw pumps and pneumatic diaphragm pumps

- Perform preventive maintenance tasks as needed on production equipment, following standard procedures as indicated on PM route sheets or in equipment manuals

- Complete shop records and use reporting system following established

- Maintain a safe work environment

- Perform housekeeping tasks

- Participate in production changeovers and adjustments

- Perform miscellaneous or general maintenance work as required

- Assist in check out, debug and start-up of new equipment as needed

- Calibrate equipment, such as: weight systems, transmitters and transducers, control loops, indicators and readouts

- Scaling of process variables

- Maintain gas analyzers

- Participate as needed on Calibration Team

- Draft new calibration procedures

- Cross train technicians

- Using programming devices, repair, program, edit and troubleshoot :

- PLC’s and DCS (programmable systems)

- Transmitters

- Dives (AC, DC, digital, servo)

- HMI’s (Human Machine Interfaces, Operator Interfaces)

- Vision-optical inspection systems

This position will require:

- Working overtime

- Weekend work

- Working on holidays as needed

- Short notice call in

- Working on call

This position may require:

- Working a first, second, or third shift depending on business needs

Basic Qualifications:

- Possess a two (2) year technical degree in a mechanical, electrical, and/or electronics field

- Minimum of three (3) years of mechanical/electrical equipment maintenance

Preferred Qualifications:

- Verbal, written and electronic communication necessary for technical and procedural problems, processes, designs and applications

- Documented education, training, and industrial work experience to understand and implement the local, state, federal, and 3M mandated compliance requirements

- Proven skill level in working with original equipment manufacturers’ prints, drawings, charts, documentation, manuals, procedures, calibrations, work layout, work coordination, and advanced software

- Proven control system expertise – open and closed, full understanding of control loops

- Proven programming expertise – configure, edit, change, add, develop, de-bug, and modify application software

- Knowledge and skills of mechanical concepts at a level required to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment and devices is normally required

- Knowledge and skills of electrical concepts at a level required to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment and devices is normally required

Location: Clinton, TN

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic

Relocation: Is not authorized
