Job Summary

At Waste Management our Commercial Drivers operate front-end or rear load trucks to service commercial routes removing and transporting waste or recyclables in fulfillment of customer contracts. This position will service approximately 100 to 150 commercial customers per day according to the assigned routes. The waste will then need to be transferred to the appropriate station, landfill or drop-off location.

Routes may require Drivers to navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city and suburban locations. Backing skills are essential, as a large percentage of the time spent servicing customers is done in reverse. Our drivers routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts and at times need to climb on to the truck containers to smooth loads or secure traps for transport.

Our drivers, who have safe driving records, comply with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and with company policy. Drivers are expected to communicate professionally with customers and dispatchers at all times. This includes receiving complaints about schedules and quality of service. Our Drivers must make note of and report on any such complaints and respond in a courteous and respectful manner.

Required work hours may be up to the legal limits allowed and may require weekend and/or holiday work. Work hours will vary by route. Drivers must be able to read and understand a map, complete daily driver logs as well as pre and post trip truck inspections.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

At least 1 year of experience within the last 7 years operating a vehicle requiring a commercial driver's license (CDL) or military equivalent.

21 years of age or older
