We have a full-time/part-time opening for a Process Engineer.

Must be able to work various shifts per week.

Requirements

Position Summary:
Investigates and evaluates plant processes as they apply to laboratory testing and equipment. Conducts laboratory and performance testing including chemical treatment and specific equipment evaluation. Writes test reports of laboratory evaluation. Conducts on-site testing and evaluation as it relates to equipment.


Basic Skills:
- BS in Metallurgy, Chemistry or Physics. MS in Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Three (3) - Five (5) years previous laboratory testing experience in Industrial waste related field: sample analysis, standard procedures, competitive equipment, chemical processing, pilot plant, industrial and/or mining processing.
- Has good mechanical aptitude and skills. Periodically participates in demonstration trials, start-ups, and on-site laboratory testing to gain a working knowledge of Andritz equipment.
- Has ability to understand, analyze and interpret technical data, charts and studies.
- Has ability to work with minimum supervision. Must be self-motivated.
- Current in PC skills: Excel, MicroSoft Word, Power Point,

Major Duties:
Collects available laboratory information and plans tests; works with supervisor, sales, process engineering, representatives and customers.
Conducts testing and records both objective analytical data and personal subjective observations: maintains close interface with sales and Laboratory Director.
Researches sample background and process information to understand derivation of test samples.
Writes test reports that identify specific objectives and provide specific conclusions based on an understanding of customer's requirements.
Stays current on standard laboratory procedures, drying and filtration techniques and theories.
Stays current on Mining, Municipal. Industrial, Pulp and Paper processing and new technology trends.
Maintains current knowledge of equipment, chemicals and filter media.
Conducts on-site laboratory testing and dewatering evaluations as required.
Participates in on-site demo tests.
Participates in performance start-up and on-site problem solving.
In conjunction with previous three items, up to 30% travel may be required.

Secondary Duties:
Conducts sample characterization by current standard analytical procedures to serve as a
Reference.
Identifies and logs incoming samples. Notifies sales.
Maintains and cleans test equipment/utensils.
Maintains laboratory data base system.
Keeps stock of necessary laboratory supplies.
Updates computer log and data bank.
Maintains test report database.
