The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Sr Data Center Technician for our Critical Infrastructure group that is a department of TWC ' s Technology and Network Operations organization. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Position Summary
Under general supervision, configures, installs, maintains and upgrades computer systems hardware and software. Administers and maintains security of operating systems. Restores files or systems by designing, writing and implementing backup procedures. Provides operational support for the organization ' s information systems and peripheral equipment, such as servers, desktops, printers and storage devices. Performs recovery procedures, scheduling and backups, and monitors batch processes. Typically has 5 - 7 years relevant experience.

Essential Job Functions:

• Lead the installation of data center infrastructure materials including: racks and cabinets w/grounding, cable tray and ladder, cable management, copper and fiber networking cable, copper and fiber patch panels and any other materials necessary for data center operations.

• Lead the Rack and stack of equipment including: network switches and routers, servers, power distribution devices, equipment grounding, patch cable network connections to equipment including copper and fiber, any other equipment necessary for data center operations.

• Lead the installation of structured wiring including network drops, coax cable drops and specialty cable with appropriate connectors in support of facilities operations for the corporate offices. Install network equipment and patch infrastructure in tele-data closets and patch in network drops using copper and fiber patch cords.

• Install data center infrastructure materials including: racks and cabinets w/grounding, cable tray and ladder, cable management, copper and fiber networking cable, copper and fiber patch panels and any other materials necessary for data center operations.

• Install structured wiring including network drops, coax cable drops and specialty cable with appropriate connectors in support of facilities operations for the corporate offices. Install network equipment and patch infrastructure in tele-data closets and patch in network drops using copper and fiber patch cords.

• Perform daily walk-through in the data center and associated spaces to check for alarms in data center equipment including: access control and security systems, servers, network equipment and any other devices installed and in operation. Notify management and the Operations Center and take appropriate steps to address the condition by calling for the appropriate support from internal and vendor sources. Ensure data center is kept clean and tidy.

• Monitor all environmental systems including: Enterprise View from Server Technologies. Familiarity with HP OpenView a plus.

• Handle all trouble tickets related to these job functions using Remedy as a tracking and trouble management system. Minimize time to close tickets while maintaining a high level of quality in work performed to resolve tickets.

• Assist with receiving, asset tagging, storing and deploying equipment and tools for data center operations as necessary.

Job Requirements:

• Proven skills with data center type infrastructure and structured wiring using Avaya, Chatsworth, Cooper B-Line, Corning, Panduit, Siemon, SystiMAX and similar products typical of a data center environment.

• Knowledge of and proven skills with hand and power tools including: drills and saws, cable cutters and strippers, jack block and other cable terminating tools, knowledge of and ability to make and repair copper and fiber patch cables in multiple configurations.

• Knowledge of and proven skills using various test sets including: power system multi-meters, cable test sets (Fluke DTX for copper and fiber), fiber test sets (Fluke OTDR fiber tester), cable testing and certification, network test sets (Fluke OptiView Series II Network Analyzer) for terrestrial and wireless networks.

• Ability to analyze the data center environment and identify areas of improvement and potential trouble conditions, present the facts to management in a timely manner, and make recommendations for solutions.

• Self-motivated individual with the capability to act as team leader overseeing contract technicians and assigned projects.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Preferred Qualifications:
Panduit and Corning or similar cabling certifications preferred.
BICSI certification, NFPA-73 certification. Panduit, SystiMAX, Avaya, Lucent, Corning or similar cabling certifications preferred.

Education and Experience:
combination of education and experience.
1 Level 3: Bachelor ' s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.

Travel Requirement:
Yes Travel 5% Occasional travel to Coudersport, PA and any future data center sites. Travel limited to once every 1-3 months

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
No Supervisory responsibilities with this position.
