Provides executive leadership, direction & decision-making for all Pharmacy Ops & Services in the Northern California region, in alignment w/ organizational, regional & national pharmacy strategy. Responsible for ensuring consistently high levels of performance & pharmaceutical care delivery across all pharmacy service lines, including Outpatient, Inpatient, Ambulatory Care, Home Infusion, Central Refill, Call Center(s), Drug Use Management, Specialty Pharmacy, & Administration. This position is expected to build strong collaborative relationships w/ other key leaders at the Senior Leadership level in the region (KFH/HP & Medical Group), ensuring that Pharmacy Ops is positioned to optimize performance in terms of quality, service, affordability & technology. Collaborates w/ National Pharmacy, Regional & Service Area Leadership to allocate operating budgets across Northern California Service Areas to assure appropriate resource utilization & consistent operations, quality & scope of service. Responsible to monitor performance against budgets & make appropriate adjustments to achieve financial goals. Assists the VP of National Pharmacy in the development & execution of a national strategy for the delivery of pharmaceutical care across the Program. Builds strong collaborative relationships w/ National Pharmacy Service Line Leaders & other Pharmacy Directors in all regions of the Program to ensure alignment of resources & efficiency of operations.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for an operating budget of $2.0-2.5 billion, encompassing 15 Service Areas, 22 hospitals, 120 outpatient pharmacies, 2 Home Infusion Services & over 100 clinical pharmacy programs. Directly responsible for a team of 10-15 pharmacy leaders; overall responsibility for, & executive oversight of, over 4000 employees.

• Collaborates w/ National Service Line Leaders in Pharmacy as well as at the Regional H/HP level in the development & allocation of operating budgets to assure appropriate resource utilization, consistent operations, & scope of services provided, w/ monitoring of performance against operating plans, & adjustments implemented as necessary & appropriate.

• Provides executive leadership in the development of Pharmacy Operations’ vision & strategy for the region, including the establishment of organizationally-aligned performance goals, timelines & outcome measures. Assures that the Regional Pharmacy strategy & vision is fully aligned w/ the National Pharmacy Program strategy & vision. Responsible for prioritizing & adjusting the strategic plan & initiatives in response to organizational, regulatory or market driven imperatives. Directly accountable as the Regional Senior Leader for Pharmacy Ops to execute the strategy consistently across the region in all practice settings.

• Expected to lead, serve & participate on various committees at the Senior Leadership level.

• Collaborates w/ the VP-CFO of Pharmacy to develop operating plans & to ensure that the regional strategy, initiatives & monitoring systems & tools are aligned w/ the operating plan. Responsible for all financial targets & performance metrics in all Pharmacy Ops & Services in Northern California.

• Collaborates w/ the VP of Outpatient Pharmacy Services in the development & execution of national strategies for the delivery of Outpatient Pharmacy Ops & services across the Program. Responsible for all Outpatient Pharmacy targets, goals & performance metrics in Northern California.

• Collaborates w/ the VP of Acute & Transitional Pharmacy Care Services in the development & execution of national strategies for the delivery of Acute & Transitional Pharmacy Ops & services across the Program. Responsible for all Acute & Transitional Care Pharmacy targets, goals & performance metrics in Northern California.

• Collaborates w/ National & Regional Drug Use Management Leadership & Regional Medical Group Leadership to develop drug use initiatives & assure appropriate use of pharmaceuticals. Responsible for the execution & consistent implementation of drug use initiatives & care management initiatives.

• Collaborates w/ Executive Director, Medication Quality & Patient Safety & Regional H/HP & Medical Group Leadership to develop quality initiatives, processes & tools.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

• Minimum seven (7) years of leadership-level experience and documented record of success in management of multi-disciplinary and multi-site pharmacy operations and services, required.

Education

• Degree in Pharmacy required.

License, Certification, Registration

• Licensure as a registered pharmacist is required.

• Pharm.D. preferred but will also consider master's degree in pharmacy, health services or business administration or related field.
