Sodexo is seeking an experienced Catering/Retail Manager for Menlo College and Menlo School – a unique account with shared service for a smaller, private college and an affluent private K-8 grade school all on the same property. This Manager will be responsible for the organization and execution of all on campus catering averaging $250K per year of catering and conference business - from basic casual catering to high end College Presidential catering events and a small retail operation. This position also supports a small Retail operation - composed of two small kiosk/snack bar operations with volume of $150k - as well as supporting the resident dining programs for both Menlo College and Menlo School. Will report to the General Manager and is part of a 3 manager team at this account.

The key focus of this position are understanding relationships in a campus environment, leading and directing a top notch Catering Operation, Culinary Knowledge, and Pricing and Cost management of both Catering and Retail Operations on-Campus.

The ideal candidate will have:

demonstrated knowledge in high end and high volume catering management in casual/ fine dining, hotel/banquet or campus environment. strong writing, costing, menu development and pricing skills. Keen attention to details, food presentation, and solid client/customer focus while working with a very involved client with high expectations for catering. Additional skills include experience in food retail, employee/staff training, labor management and control systems, and a culinary background. A focus or background in sustainability – as they will be supporting the organic, sustainable initiatives of Menlo College and School. Seeking candidates that are bilingual - the ability to speak Spanish would be helpful in managing this position.

Position Summary

Manages all catered events. Hires, schedules, and trains catering staff. Works with clients/customers to arrange and follow through on all catering details and to ensure all special requests are met. Directs setup for events. Responsible for pricing, billing and resolving customer complaints. Develops menu/costing.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED

Basic Management Experience - 2 years

Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Sodexo will require a background check and may require a drug screen for this position.
