Optum360, an industry leader in healthcare technology, implementation and consulting services, is adding additional talent to our Health Information Management Consulting team. Ideal candidates will have experience in performing inpatient and/or outpatient ICD-9/10 coding and documentation quality reviews. This is a full time position that would allow employees to see career growth while taking on challenging engagements. The position is predominantly home based with 25% national travel required. RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC certification required with a preference for both inpatient and outpatient coding experience.


 


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Reviews records for DRG, APC, ICD-9-CM, ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT and E/M codes to determine overall coding accuracy and clinical documentation gaps

  • Documents all charts reviewed with notes of recommended changes and education opportunities per coder/per facility, using the database tools provided

  • Remains knowledgeable of state and national coding issues effecting coders, physicians and overall organization related to reimbursement and/or compliance guidelines

  • Discusses coding and documentation issues with appropriate personnel to ensure complete and accurate coding and reimbursement. This may involve advice on querying physicians for the clarification or addition of diagnosis, complications or co-morbid conditions present on an as needed basis

  • Lead Kick Off Calls

  • Prepares and presents education on coding/documentation/reimbursement issues either face to face onsite or via WebEx

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Ability to do national travel up to 25%

  • 5+ years acute hospital coding experience

  • Experience leading auditing effort

  • Experience with ICD-10 coding 

  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC Certification

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Excel, Access and PowerPoint

  • Proficient with problem resolution, collection of relevant health care trend, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong ability to pay attention to details

  • Excellent time and resource management skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Ability to lead educational sessions utilizing WebEx

 


 


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree

  • 2+ years healthcare consulting experience

  • 2+ years project management/leadership experience

  • AHIMA Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Certified Trainer
