The Buyer is responsible for procurement of goods and services across corporate enterprises. Anticipates and identifies needs, and works with locations and suppliers to fill the requirements. The main objective of this position is to procure fleet in an efficient, ethical, and financially responsible manner seeking opportunities to aggregate spend and drive deeper discounts to maximize financial impact without sacrificing quality, value and service, while adhering to company policies and procedures, keeping in line with the company’s goals and objectives.

Main internal and external stakeholders are field personnel, fleet management group, fleet planning group, key OEM’s, fleet accounting and accounts payable.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Anticipate and identify company and customer procurement needs, qualify opportunities and develop appropriate strategies for the program or requirement setting strategic direction and driving results in specific markets. Manage procurement projects from inception to completion and beyond. Prepare daily purchase orders with accurate pricing and delivery data. Monitor ongoing activity to insure compliance to the agreement. Bid analysis for local and state government contracts. Evaluate and develop procurement alternatives based upon long term spend objectives. Establish various means of communication with business entities to effectively promote awareness and use of established programs to maximize compliance. Provide leadership and guidance to internal and external business partners. Develop and maintain relationships with internal departments and suppliers. Develop and manage reporting tools. Track and report status reports. Communicate effectively with suppliers and be the focal point for ongoing issue resolution. *LI-LM1

Mandatory Requirements:

Educational Background:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Professional Experience:

Procurement and Contract Management experience required

Excellent and versatile ability to communicate clearly, sensitively, and productively with people across all levels of management at The Hertz Corporation and within the supplier organizations. Exceptional business acumen and general knowledge around theory and practice of marketing, finance, operations, accounting, IT and organizational behaviour Expertise in identification and development of new suppliers where required Skilled negotiator with the proven ability to negotiate with suppliers where required Extensive experience working with purchasing systems Function independently within broadly defined direction, and ability to identify new areas of direction Employ a disciplined process for defining, measuring and achieving desired results and objectives Self-Starter Time management skills Project Management skills Mature confidence Results driven Inspiring and motivating Excellent planning and organizational skills Ability to work constructively under pressure Resilient, adaptable, flexible Innovative and creative Possess a high level of commitment initiative and responsibility Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint Values diversity and is comfortable in dealing with different personalities and cultures Hertz is a Drug-Free Workplace.
