This role contributes to the success of PBC by leading transportation activities in an effective and efficient manner. The transportation team is looking for an energetic leader who will be responsible for the development and implementation of transportation strategies and initiatives designed to ensure consistent, world-class transportation service that drives superior product in-stock performance at the lowest possible cost.

The Transport Manager is in charge of the transportation requirements for the Detroit and Howell bottling plants. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing truck load (TL) inter-company shipments.

Major Task Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:

Accountable for delivering annual operating plan and cost savings objectives

Provide coaching and guidance to department managers and supervisors in the performance of duties and functions for their respective responsibilities

Directly responsible for maintaining an efficient cost advantaged company transport fleet across multiple locations

Directly responsible for on-time delivery performance for company owned private fleet

Interfaces with Region Supply Managers to evaluate alternative supply networks that optimize cost and service objectives while considering changes in business and customer profiles; provides transportation expertise to these initiatives

Develop effective relationships with internal customers (i.e. sales, logistics, plant, satellite warehouses etc.)

Provide interface and direction for common carriers on issues and improvement projects

Effectively present information and respond to questions from senior executives, employees, and carriers

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and outside correspondence

Supervise a team of front-line employees. Manage day to day driver issues and union business.

Determine and schedule any common carrier opportunities on a daily basis.

Develop, plan and post the weekly transport drivers bid to coincide with all contract obligations and language. Bid is to be compiled for efficiency and cost savings.

Provide support in the development and execution of transportation projects that provide cost improvements, improved service, or increase safety standards.

Education and Certifications:

A minimum of 5 years of related field and/or a Bachelors degree

Work Experience:

Knowledge of DOT (Department Of Transportation) regulations

Transportation experience dealing with legal, regulatory and operational issues, including customer service, logistics and carrier operations

A minimum of 2 years' experience managing front-line employees

Skills & Capabilities:

Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends

Strong communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and influence management skills

Incumbent should have a strong customer focus and be results driven.

Incumbent must be able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks without losing momentum while also completing all daily tasks efficiently and effectively
