The IS Senior Manager position oversees and manages several teams of associates in the development, implementation, and on-going support of Home Depot's existing and new software applications and hardware platforms. The senior manager works closely with end-user groups to ensure operational stability and that new applications meet the practical needs of the company. The IS senior manager oversees development and support activities to meet user needs in a timely and cost effective manner while ensuring the right things get done as per the governance process. Builds relationships with key user and store operation groups to identify and resolve business issues, manages and tracks the progress of development projects and communications to supervisors and end users. The IS Senior Manager also selects, develops, and motivates assigned staff and completes project management and administration that includes work plans, finances, resource planning and control, writing status reports, and preparing annual budgets.
Core Responsibilities:

Drives the day to day support for store back office inventory management and design systems across the Home Depot US Stores. Establish productive business relationships across our store operations and merchandising business groups. Deliver day to day system improvements and small enhancements that support the needs of our business. Staff key positions in a timely manner. Attract, mentor, motivate, retain, and develop staff to achieve highest potential and implement continuous improvement programs. Transition large strategic systems from development into the support organization. Provide high quality customer service to our business teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

• 10+ Years of experience managing software development/support
• Background managing relationships with business customer teams
• Ability to attract, motivate, retain and develop talent both local and remote
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple resources across distributed teams
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; Masters is a plus

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

Builds relationship with key user and store operation groups to identify and resolve business issues.
Manages and provides technical and business direction that affects capacity planning, new applications, data security, and LAN systems, among others.
Manages and tracks the progress of multiple projects. Project management and administration that include work plans, projtrac, resource planning and control, writing status reports, and preparing annual budgets. Conduct regular project reviews.
Resolves information services problems by analyzing issues, discerning the most appropriate courses of action, providing tactical direction and, when necessary, reallocating resources.
Provides operations analysis and consults to internal clients on business process improvement.
Conducts financial analyses to support strategic planning on system purchases, upgrades and reclamation. Negotiates favorable prices with vendors on hardware and software.
Communicates status of activities with the team, peers, management, and end-users.
Selects, develops and motivates assigned staff.

NATURE AND SCOPE -

Typically reports to a Director of Information Services or Senior Vice President
Direct reports may include Managers of IS and various IS department Associates.
Typically requires frequent persuasion or influencing of others
Typically faces situations that have a variety of interpretations and require careful evaluation.
Typically considers among many different options or procedures when solving problems.
Typically expected to provide infrequent status reports to management only as appropriate.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Under constant pressure to continuously meet tight deadlines, demanding quotas and/or must regularly deal with difficult situationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 10

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS -

Over one year of experience in a manager capacity

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -

Knowledge of MS Office and Lotus Notes
Proficiency with the Home Depot software architecture, methodology and governance.
Business and financial analysis skills.
People leadership/supervisory skills.
Technical skills may include experience with one or more of: UNIX, Informix, COBOL, JAVA, Catalyst WMS and YMS, Korn Shell Scripting, Novell, Netware, Onnet, Sequelink, TSO/ISPF/MVS, DB2/SQL, JCL, CSP, CICS TCP/IP, Visual Basic, Networking, and LAN administration.
Presentation, facilitation and writing skills.
Project management estimating, planning, controlling, and execution
