The Patient Education Representative provides program and administrative support to the SMF Patient Education Department.
Education: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. Course in medical assisting or medical billing are strongly encouraged. Some college level courses in a health related field is recommended.
Experience: Minimum 2 years experience in administrative support. Experience in health care and/or health education strongly encouraged
Knowledge: Medical terminology, knowledge of disease management, and treatment protocols, particularly in the areas of diabetes and hyperlipidemia, are recommended. Knowledge of insurance authorization, and medical billing is recommended.
Special Skills/Equipment: Excellent Microsoft Office skills including MS Word, Excel and Access. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to enable individual to work cooperatively with people of all levels. Demonstrates excellent organizational and project coordination skills. Ability to organize workflow and set priorities to ensure objectives are met. Ability to type accurately a minimum of 45 wpm. Professional appearance and mannerism expected in administrative environment. Ability to learn new software in a timely and accurate manner.
