About this job

This position provides data processing/programming and statistical support for a variety of projects in the UHC Medicare & Retirement Product department. The Senior Analytics Consultant works with large and complex health care data from different sources including health care claims, benefits systems, surveys and publically available files from CMS to support and lead various analyses. This role is highly technical and requires ability to work independently or at the direction of a project leader.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Proficiency in SQL and data management, and familiarity working in UNIX platform

  • Extract, cleanse and integrate data from a variety of data sources including large data warehouses

  • Write maintainable, supportable, well-documented SAS code, and handle complex SAS programming issues under analytic specifications

  • Perform quality assurance to check accuracy of the data

  • Develop and manage SAS programs and macros under minimal supervision

  • Support multiple analytic projects at the same time and prioritize the work accordingly

  • Prepare analysis data sets to execute statistical analysis independently and/or at the direction of lead analyst

  • Investigates new data analytic technologies, statistical technique improvements and software/system improvements and alternatives

  • Ensures that knowledge learned from past products and studies is leveraged into better-planned new studies

Requirements

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or other related field

  • 3+ years of SAS programming and statistical analysis experience or proven experience with other analytical tools such as R, Python, Tableau

  • 3+ years of experience working with large databases for data retrieval manipulations and preparing analysis data sets; efficiently integrating data from large relational databases

  • 3+ years of experience working with and analyzing transactional data; experience with healthcare data is highly preferred but will consider experience with retail, market research or finance data

  • Good understanding of basic data and file structures organization techniques

  • Ability to lead analyses independently and at the direction of others

  • Strong spoken and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of healthcare services and claims data

  • Master's degree

  • Good planning, project management, and organizational skills

  • Ability to interact with all levels of organization

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
