The Client Management Director is an executive level client manager who manages our largest, most complex, and most strategic client relationships.  The Client Management Director is a seasoned health care executive capable of being effective at the executive level of any enterprise, while at the same time being able to lead and collaborate at multiple levels across the client and UHG/Optum enterprises to achieve business results.  

 

The Client Management Director manages and develops deep relationships throughout the client's enterprise including the client's executive team as well as the client's operations and technology teams.  The Client Management Director provides oversight, support, coordination and program level leadership across a diverse set of Optum and UHG programs throughout the entire Client Life Cycle – from sales to implementation to production to on-going support.  They are responsible for the overall delivery and execution of their portfolio of solutions to the client.  The Client Management Director is an integral part of the joint Optum, UHG, and Client management team that drives the overall strategy to ensure that the value that we provide for our client is directly measured by the success of our client's business objectives.

Leadership and Innovation


  • Outwardly focused serving people, clients and markets

  • Provide Optum product consultation to UHC, ensuring products and services meet current and future business needs; provide strategic leadership to UHC on new and emerging Optum capabilities.

  • Assist UHC with strategic planning, as it relates to Optum products and capabilities.

  • Coordinate and influence superior customer service delivery by developing and maintaining strong intercompany relationships.

  • Proactively manage product performance issues, and collaborate with Optum product owners to address product deficiencies.

  • Serve as the Optum escalation point for UHC, ensuring timely and thorough resolution of critical issues.

  • Drive completion of projects and initiatives; follow through on the execution of chosen strategies and demonstrate and ability to stay the course despite obstacles.

  • Proactively manage client performance requirements and work with appropriate internal constituents to establish necessary steps to correct and improve results.

  • Solve day-to-day account service issues directly, or by leading internal teams to a solution.

  • Diagnose root causes of service issues; collaborate with appropriate functional areas to develop solutions.

  • Provide consultative and proactive recommendations to assigned UHC and internally to Optum to add value and maintain and grow the business relationship.

  • Provide strategic leadership and subject matter expertise on Medicare program and regulatory requirements to Optum product leaders.

  • Identify and constructively communicate the need for improvements or enhancements in Optum products and services offered to UHC.

Requirements

Qualifications:

 


  • Bachelor's degree required, advance degree preferred

  • Eight years+ Healthcare Operations or Healthcare IT leadership experience

  • Experience working in either a Provider or Payer environment – preferably both

  • Five years+ managing multiple projects/tasks to meet contractual deadlines or other time sensitive commitments.

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with health care reform.  Strong understanding of the goals of health care reform and the components that will help achieve those goals.

  • Strong executive presence with excellent communications skills – both written and verbal

  • Demonstrated inter-personal skills including collaboration, compassion, empathy, and ability to achieve objectives through others

  • Demonstrated detail orientation and strong follow-up skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a client's executive team on strategic and tactical activities

  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly and then adapt from those concepts to develop and execute operational plans

  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively across the client's entire organization including CXO's, executive sponsors, VPs, Directors, Department Manager's and End users

  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively across a large enterprise such as UHG and Optum.

  • Able to handle a variety of issues, handle multiple tasks and simultaneously thrive in an environment with multiple competing priorities

  • Solid judgment & leadership skills

  • Background in client management, product management, consulting, implementation, program and project management, or business development
