Lowe's is hiring two Category Manager positions. The first Category Manager will support the DOT, Fleet & Transportation categories. The second Category Manager will support the Facilities Construction and Maintenance categories.

The principle purpose of the Category Manager is to oversee all Category Management, Strategic Sourcing as well as Supplier Management performance and relationship management activities for the specific subcategories of spend in their purview. This role is the go-to resource in Sourcing & Procurement Solutions (SPS) for their respective subcategories and should be seen as such by SPS as well as the business units.

The Category Manager will be responsible for managing and delivering results that support SPS related goals and objectives for respective subcategories and business units. This role will act as the single point of contact for the entire organization with regard to strategic procurement activities for their subcategories. The Category Manager will be accountable for creating, facilitating or participating in the development of Category Management strategies, executing upon the category strategies and monitoring and evaluating success.

To accomplish category strategies that involve sourcing, the Category Manager must effectively manage and utilize the Sr. Specialist, Strategic Sourcing to execute and facilitate the sourcing process with the business unit team. The Category Manager must possess excellent project management skills, people leadership skills and an understanding of the business and their category specific knowledge to provide value to their respective business units.

The Category Manager will work directly with the Center of Expertise (COE) Director to understand and discuss overall COE goals, objectives, priorities, plans of actions and any issues requiring escalation as well as the data, information and any support needed from SPS's Shared Services organization. The Category Manager will have direct management responsibility for Strategic Sourcing Associates and will work with SPS Shared Services to collect an aggregate useful data to develop an convey meaningful category and sourcing results. In addition, the Category Manager will work closely with business unit leadership and will lead or participate on cross functional teams to develop strategic procurement strategies and solutions that align to the business unit strategies. To accomplish this, the Category Manager will need to collaborate and build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities:

Category Management

* Defines category and demand profile for respective subcategories

* Assesses the supply market

* Develops category strategy and plans that encompass creative and well thought out insights and solutions

* Executes plan and realizes benefits

* Refines and refreshes category management strategies and plans based on monitoring progress toward results

Project Management

* Develops category strategies, goals and objectives and manages the associated project plans to execute category management activities by identifying issues and opportunities, forming hypotheses, utilizing analysis and synthesizing conclusions

* Works independently, with limited direction, to achieve and exceed results

* Leads or facilitates a cross functional team through project activities and supports the team with process and category knowledge

* Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of Lowe's operations and business processes for respective subcategories

* Prioritizes activities and communicates priorities to team

* Adapts project plans and approaches, and guides project team in the face of change, obstacles and adversity

* Recommends trade-offs and communicates point of view to SPS Director for making difficult decisions related to resource constraints and priorities

Stakeholder and Requirements Management

* Builds strong working relationships with business unit stakeholders in order to ensure requirements and considerations are being incorporated into category management and sourcing plans

* Works with the business units to prepare project plans and insures all stakeholders understand timelines and assignments

* Manages communications with business unit stakeholders, including regular project updates and executive updates as needed

* Provides COE Lead with resource estimates and progress updates on integrated, large-scale programs.

* Consults with resources in SPS shared services areas (e.g., Supplier Mgt., Contract Mgt., Spend Analytics, Performance Mgt., etc.) to solicit information and insure alignment enterprise wide.

* Communicates with and coordinates the inclusion of the Strategic Sourcing Associate on any sourcing activities

Business Influence

* Develops and maintains strong relationships with business units and penetrating the organization by continually demonstrating value and breaking down resistance in order to effectively manage spend

* Collaborates with business unit stakeholder to establish strong working relationships

* Meets or exceeds business unit expectations, looks for ways to improve the working relationship and experience, creates a unified team environment and team goals, and ensures all stakeholders understand the connection between the SPS category strategies and the overall business objectives and strategies

* Drives for results by consistently achieving goals and pushing to complete tasks by their deadlines

Self-Leadership

* Negotiates effectively for the organization with internal and external stakeholders

* Develops and presents communications, frequently to senior leadership, communicating the desired message, at the appropriate level, for the right recipient

* Does what it takes to understand the stakeholders' business and builds and maintains category knowledge and expertise

Required Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field plus 6 years of experience in SPS, Business, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Consulting or Sales OR 9 years of experience in Business, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Consulting, Sales or related area without a degree

* 1 year of experience with negotiations

* Demonstrated experience collaborating and communicating at the executive level

* Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams

* Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional project teams and resources

* Demonstrated experience with business planning and Category strategy development

* Demonstrated knowledge of designated spend category

* Demonstrated project management experience

* Demonstrated understanding of strategic procurement processes including category management, strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management, and supplier performance management

* Proficient with MS Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA)

* 8 years of experience in Business, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Consulting, or Sales

* 2 years of experience working in designated spend category area

* 1 year of experience with E-procurement tools and MS Project or other Project Management software

* Experience in a retail or Business to Consumer environment
