Salt Lake Behavioral Health, is a private, freestanding, 118- bed, acute psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health and chemical dependency. We provide a wide range of services and programs that offer evidence-based treatment proven to have positive outcomes for our patients. Our inpatient and day hospital, or outpatient, services offer supportive and compassionate care for children, adolescents and adults through specialty programs that are tailored to meet the needs of our patients. Salt Lake Behavioral Health currently has an Assessment Counselor position available. The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:

As part of the admissions assessment team, the Assessment Counselor provides face to face clinical assessments, including the history of presenting illness, family dynamics and supporting psychosocial information. The Assessment Counselor also provides in person and telephonic risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process, and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.

Education: Master's Degree in a human relations field.

Experience: Preferably two or more years experience in intake assessment activities within an acute psychiatric setting. A minimum of two years experience in a psychiatric hospital setting.

Licensure: Fully licensed to practice in the State of Utah as a mental health professional.

Additional Requirements: A working knowledge of the DSM-IV and the Mental Status Exam. A working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field. CPR certification and management of aggressive behavior (MANDT training within 90 days of employment prior to assisting in a restraining procedure.
