3M is seeking a Foam Manufacturing Operator for the Industrial Business Group located in Newark, DE. Ready to be part of what's next?
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Set up wet end of foam line for production runs as per supplied formulation sheets and production orders
- Assemble mix head
- Set up chemical modules
- Calibrate chemical streams
- Maintain all run parameters during foam casting at the wet end; making changes as instructed by the Process Chemists or Line Leaders
- Record substrate lot numbers and run times
- Assist in mounting substrates
- Perform preventative maintenance checks on equipment as required
- Detect and report equipment malfunctions or any unusual condition to Supervisor
- Monitor production material for quality
- Operate the cutter and roll winders at the dry end
- Cutter operators will keep record of material produced and complete daily production records
- Operate fork trucks, banding tools, sheet cutters, foam and paper winders, edge trimmers, tape measures, stop watch, and small hand tools
- Perform daily fork truck safety inspection
- Maintain housekeeping throughout department on a regular basis
- Handle chemical waste in accordance with all applicable federal and local environmental law and regulations
This position will require:
- Working overtime
- Weekend work
- Working a fixed 3rd shift
This position may require:
- Holidays as needed
- Short notice call in
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing plant environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience working with chemical processing equipment
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple tasks
- Demonstrated effective cross-functional team work among internal businesses
- Fork lift and hoist experience
- Solid interpersonal skills with strong math skills
- Must be able to multi-task
