3M is seeking a Journeyman Maintenance Multi Skill Mechanic for the Materials Resources Division located in Cordova, IL. Ready to be part of what's next?

Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of Maintenance Multi Skill Mechanic will maintain, repair, and install equipment and facilities, through quality workmanship, performed in a safe, timely, and effective manner under the current policies and guidelines of 3M Cordova.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Complete preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance using skills that include, but are not limited to, the following: install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications

- Pipefitting installation and repair of pipe systems through welding, threading proper hanging, and expansion and friction loss of same

- Complete overhauls of various types of equipment, such as: reactor drive, gear box, pumps, mechanical seals, forklifts, pallet trucks, conveyers, air and nitrogen compressors, refrigeration systems and boilers

- Inspect or test damaged machine parts, and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs

- Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists

- Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work

- Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance

- Record and document repair and machine maintenance information

- Participates in ongoing training. Regulatory training, which includes hazardous material training, is completed during employee orientation and annually thereafter

- Must have completed general Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) orientation; additional training required if assigned to GMP products

- The job also requires performing other duties as assigned

This position may require:

- Working overtime

- Weekend work

- Working holidays as needed

- Working rotating shifts

Basic Qualifications:

- Possess a High school diploma/GED or higher

Possess a current and valid Mechanical Journeyman certificate or license

Preferred Qualifications:

- Ability to complete electrical maintenance such as installation/removal of motors and devices up to 480V 3 phase

- Experience with PLC programming

- A minimum of two (2) year technical degree in a maintenance field

- A minimum of five (5) years or more of industrial maintenance experience

- Advanced computer skills

- Experience troubleshooting and problem solving in a manufacturing environment

- Experience in a heavy industrial environment

- Experience in machining, metal fabrication and pipefitting

- Knowledge and experience with mechanical equipment

- Working independently or with teams

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Operating, maintaining and repairing tools and equipment
