About this job

NBC Bay Area's Technology Internship provides students with real world experience and exposure to working in a top ten television market.

Successful interns would be:

*Journalism/Mass Media students with a strong interest in computers and the technology of news gathering,

*Computer Science students interested in media technology and gaining desktop support experience

*Engineering students looking to develop computer troubleshooting skills and/or interested in learning about TV technology

Internship would involve:

*Working within a technology group, doing day-to-day troubleshooting and configuration of desktop computers and media technology

*Potential to be involved in a large-scale newsroom system upgrade

*Configuration, troubleshooting and development of media production work flows.

*Build-up and rollout of standardized computer systems to end-users

*Basic server and user profile administration

*Potential to learn broadcast engineering and/or electronic news gathering skills/technologies. We'll help you develop skills within your areas of interest.

*Working with on-air production staff and behind-the-scenes support crew, with desktop support and troubleshooting

Internships at NBCUniversal are paid and do not require course credit. Qualifications/Requirements NBCUniversal interns must meet the following criteria:

* Must be in pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress. We will consider recent graduates one semester beyond degree.

* Current class standing of Junior or above

* Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

* Must be 18 years of age or older

* Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without a Visa or sponsorship

* The ability to work at the station, located at 2450 N. First Street, San Jose, CA

*Proficient with Microsoft Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit)

*Proficient with Microsoft Office 2010

*Ability to identify the different components inside a computer (e.g., memory, CPU, storage)

*Work well with customers (end-users) and as part of a team
