About this job

Evaluate and assign maintenance and repair work. Plan and supervise the work of trades staff, maintenance mechanics and assigned inmate crews. Inspect buildings, utilities and equipment for proper maintenance and possible repairs. Maintain records of work orders. Evaluate staff performance and take or recommend appropriate action. Write probation and performance reports. Write reports and justification for staffing. Conduct counseling sessions and staff meetings. Attend staff meetings and prepare reports for same. Enforce Health and Safety Codes, organize Safety meetings, ensure clean and orderly condition of Plant Operations Shops and related equipment rooms. Train SB 198, Right to Know and Hazard Communications Program. Enforce security, key control and tool control, rules and procedures, supervise inmate conduct, maintain inmate record, search inmates and worksites for contraband, maintain inmate accountability and security. The Supervisor of Building Trades is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the personnel involved with the Building Trades and is also responsible for assisting in the development of the Plant Operations Operational Budget, major/minor and special repair budgets and in their implementation and management. Other duties as assigned.
