The key responsibilities and accountabilities for the candidate are to:

Transport, deliver and retrieve construction equipment Operate commercial or non commercial vehicle in a safe and efficient manner Promote professionalism and excellent customer service attitude Perform pre and post vehicle inspection Ensure all delivery documents are properly maintained during the workday and are available for inspection upon request by management and or state traffic safety officers Apply knowledge of driving and/or commercial driving skills in maneuvering at various speeds in difficult locations, heavy traffic, inclement weather, mountainous terrain, or tight loading dock areas Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition, before, during, and after delivery trips Secure construction equipment and other equipment, by means of chaining, strapping, and blocking under the strict accordance and established procedures Maintain open communication with Branch Manager and/or Central Dispatcher for delivery schedules Observe safety rules and regulations at customer job sites, assorted facilities, as well as other HERC locations Provide training assistance for customers by answering general questions regarding the safe operations of vehicles, tools or machinery when asked by customer Report to the branch manager or Central Dispatcher of any damage to HERC property that is uncovered by the driver during the process of picking up the equipment from the customer Report all accidents involving driver or company equipment to Branch Manager or Central Dispatcher Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather, traffic conditions, or any other problem relating to timely pickups or delivery of equipment Maintain flexibility in daily routine to respond to Branch Managers' immediate response to customer demands Ensure proper paperwork & logs are maintained accurately

Mandatory Requirements:

Educational Background:

High school diploma and/or GED Muct have a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A with a valid medical certificate/card Professional Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of tractor trailer driving experience within the last 4 years Must have experience hauling large and midsize pieces of heavy construction equipment Knowledge:

Knowledge and understanding for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (CDL) Knowledge and understanding of local and federal traffic rules and regulations both on local roads and major interstates Should possess detailed map-reading knowledge, basic math levels, solid reading and writing skills Skills:

Ability to secure loads safely Ability to maneuver large loads through various situations Customer Service and safety skills Competencies:

Team oriented Good communication Sense of urgency Stress management

Physical Requirements:

Applicant must possess all auditory, speaking and communicating capabilities necessary to complete the responsibilities detailed above. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following such as sitting, standing, walking, bending and twisting, climbing, driving, pushing and pulling, speaking, hearing, writing, lifting, seeing, and reading. Knowledge of equipment operation such as computer terminal, telephone, portable computer, and calculator is required.
