Overview:
Old Town Car Care INC is a busy small town family owned business in Franklin Indiana. We are looking for a full time experienced auto mechanic with a positive attitude to join us for a Monday through Friday 8-5 commitment and every other Saturday 8a-1pm.
Responsibilities:
* Assisting (not training) technician mechanics in performing technical activities.
* Diagnoses and repairs to specifications-brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition and electrical, suspension, and alignment, air conditioning and computer systems.
* Adequately explains technical diagnoses and need repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include other employees and customers on an as needed basis.
* Continuously learns new technical information and techniques via informal training sessions/research in order to stay current with rapidly changing automotive technology.
* Keeps store management informed and aware of mechanical repair problems or equipment issues as they occur.
* Maintains a clean and organized work bay.
* Ability to independently operate computerized equipment after training and use professional judgment regarding automotive repair.
* Maintains professional dress, work conduct and effective working relationships with those in contact with during the work day. (i.e. vendors, customers, shareholders, co-wokers)
* Be able to effectively diagnose and determine engine and other operating defects.
* Properly test and make extensive repairs to engines, transmissions, differentials, chassis parts, electrical fuel, ignition, cooling, steering, hydraulic and air systems.
* Working knowledge of diesel a plus.
**THIS POSITION WILL ALSO BE TRAINED TO RUN THE FRONT COUNTER AS NEEDED, COMPUTER SKILLS A PLUS!!**
Requirements:
Valid Driver's license for the state of Indiana
* Good work ethic, positive attitude, service oriented, highly motivated.
* Positive/strong reference check from past employers/personal.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Essential duties of these classifications are performed in both shop and field environments in all weather conditions, frequently on slippery or uneven surfaces, around machinery and equipment with moving parts with potential exposure to constant noise, dust, allergens, fumes, smoke/gases, grease and oils, electrical current/energy, chemicals.
Essential duties of these classifications regularly require the participant to work in awkward or uncomfortable positions for a period of time, stoop, bend, climb, kneel, carry heavy equipment or parts, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
