Job Summary The University of Michigan's Instructional Support Services department in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts seeks a creative, user-centered, energetic individual to provide exceptional service-oriented support while working to develop and implement a wide range of technology-based solutions for enhancing classroom instruction.

Responsibilities* -Consult, advise, and train LSA faculty on development and support of technology-enabled learning objects and activities. In collaboration with the instructional technology team, create and implement strong pedagogy-based solutions.

-Provide curricular support to faculty and students engaged in online and hybrid learning environments, including support of student response systems and other in-class student management/engagement initiatives.

-Provide training and workshops. Train faculty and students to use instructional software or web-based solutions on a practical productivity level, as well as on a pedagogical level focusing on how instructional tools can be integrated into a lesson or curriculum.

-Coordinate with other ISS staff members (ISS instructional technology consultants, media producers and engineers) to design, develop, and create new instructional resources. These may include software, web-based learning modules, multimedia annotated texts (text, image, audio, video), interactive exercises, modular tutorials, etc. Responsibilities will include creating a plan and process for integrating tools into specific curricula and coordinating with IT staff to develop prototypes and templates to serve the project's needs.

-Research current and emerging pedagogical practice in relevant instructional technologies, online and hybrid learning environments, flipped classrooms, collaborative workspaces, and so on, appropriate to the higher education environment. Take part in special interest groups and attend relevant talks, as well as taking part in and making presentations around campus.

-Participate in the campus instructional technology community of practice in order to collaborate on projects and project development, develop best practice standards, disseminate patterns in technology use, and coordinate training and service options for students and faculty. Provide excellent patron service by being communicative, informative, and sensitive.

Required Qualifications* -Bachelor's degree plus 2-5 years professional experience in a higher education, multimedia/instructional technology environment, or equivalent professional experience

-Demonstrated skills and experience in analyzing, comparing, and evaluating options to meet a curricular need.

-Demonstrated ability to learn, adapt, and evolve with changing practices in technology and pedagogy.

-Ability to analyze and align technology solutions with instructional need; current educational and technological trends; departmental, college, and campus-wide goals/priorities, and campus infrastructure.

-Experience developing outreach strategies around social media, and knowledge of social media and mobile device use in an educational environment.

-Ability to work productively under pressure with multiple responsibilities and to prioritize among multiple projects.

-High level of experience and comfort with technology. Knowledge of both Mac and Windows-based environments.

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented work habits. Highly attentive to accuracy and detail.

-Ability to communicate effectively with people who have varying levels of computer experience.

-Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with demonstrated ability to work well and interact diplomatically with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.

-Demonstrated strong track record of dependability and punctuality in prior work settings

Desired Qualifications* -Experience with a wide range of instructional technology areas, including but not limited to the following:

-Student response systems, such as i>clicker, and other in-class student management/engagement initiatives

-Web-based exercise or module creators

-Website creation

-WordPress site and plugin usage

-Online survey tools

-Lecture capture

-Presentation technology (PowerPoint, Prezi, Keynote, etc.)

-Database design

-Course management systems

-Online and/or distance learning

-Proficiency in PHP (knowledge of iOS app development a plus)

-Experience working with or knowledge of video production and post-production

-Experience with multimedia development

-Experience in project management and in directly consulting with clients to identify and meet needs within an instructional context.

-An ideal candidate will be well versed in the use and integration of instructional technology and instructional design principles into academic curricula and should have extensive experience working in training, classroom media production, or teaching and learning environments.

Additional Information This position is being posted at both the intermediate and senior level. The actual level and compensation will determined based on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate

The salary range:

Instructional Learning Senior: $52,000 - $62,000.

Instructional Learning Intermediate $40,000 - $50,000

Higher salary negotiable for exceptional candidates.
