The Lead Developer has expert knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases. Excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle. Ability to guide and direct project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs. Must present ideas to review boards. The Lead Developer must work closely with architects to ensure proper system design. Ensures highest quality implementations from design through QA to production. Assists multiple team members and other project leads in the day-to-day activities related to project work. Must be able to anticipate hardware and software design needs. The Lead Developer must have the ability to view packages and products to determine their viability within the solution being considered, or if they would be a good solution in other areas.
This is an exciting role in the Back Office & In-Aisle portfolio at The Home Depot, we are looking for a strong lead developer who will be responsible for design, development, testing, documentation and maintenance of software applications. This position will work closely with the BOIS IT team to ensure the success of projects and activities assigned. Candidate will be enhancing/maintaining the applications used at The Home Depot stores. These systems cover many areas such as receiving, ordering, merchandising, safety, markdowns, loss prevention and customer service spanning multiple technologies.
This position provides leadership skills and technical expertise for modifying and maintaining systems in order to meet user requirements and keep up with current technologies and apply to current projects. Must be results-oriented, and positive with excellent analytical and communication skills. The successful candidate must be a self-starter able to perform with minimal supervision while working in a diverse team environment following Agile software development processes; a well-rounded individual with great analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, enthusiasm for taking ownership of features, and possess a strong commitment to quality. Coaching and mentoring junior developers will be expected.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

• View software packages, products and define, prioritize, plan and implement solutions across multiple complex projects.
• Ensure the team comprehends and applies the established processes, policies, standards and procedures.
• Provide status reports to Manager and review boards on complex development projects.
• Guide and direct project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs.
• Ensure compliance and conduct appropriate test reviews as necessary.

NATURE AND SCOPE -

• Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology
• No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may select team members and assess capabilities, provide technical training, provide information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
Must be eighteen years of age or older. Must pass the Drug Test. Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED. YEARS OF

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

+ Understanding of standard web frameworks and languages (HTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery, Angular)
+ Knowledge of standard web service development frameworks and methodologies (REST, Websockets, SSL certificates)
+ Experience with standard SQL against DB2/UDB, Oracle, Informix, or SQLServer
+ Mobile development experience
+ Good communication skills (written and verbal) required
+ Knowledge of retailing business
