The Home Depot is looking for a motivated individual who wants to be part of one of the largest, most aggressive supply chain transformation teams, a team that is responsible for ensuring The Home Depot is the Supply Chain leader in the Retail Space.

The Lead Functional Configurator will be responsible for driving projects related to the WMS application systems. The WMS applications are used at Distribution Centers throughout the US. Typical responsibilities include interacting with WMS application team, including off-shore resources, other IT teams, to determine technical solutions for WMS application systems as well as Distribution Center personnel and Business team leads to validate requirements and assure user acceptance. The individual will be responsible for requirements and scope for the WMS system enhancements and then designing, coding and implementing a solution. An associate in this position will be responsible for working with vendor software and managing vendor relationships. The individual will also be responsible for working with the application support team to train and prepare support team in changes and enhancements made to the WMS systems. This is a high demand, high availability environment that requires the ability to handle a significant workload and maintain a high energy level. The individual will need to posses ability to not only think on their feet and react quickly, but become proactive to the needs of our business partners.

The Lead Functional Configurator has expert knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases. Excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle. Ability to guide and direct project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs. Must present ideas to review boards. The Lead Functional Configurator must work closely with architects to ensure proper system design. Ensures highest quality implementations from design through QA to production. Assists multiple team members and other project leads in the day-to-day activities related to project work. Must be able to anticipate hardware and software design needs. The Lead Functional Configurator must have the ability to view packages and products to determine their viability within the solution being considered, or if they would be a good solution in other areas.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
  • The ideal candidate will possess a good working knowledge of WMS implementation experience (such as Manhattan Associates' WMS (like Catalyst or WMOS).
  • The candidate will possess the ability to problem solve, have strong process orientation and a willingness to learn the business and operational flows.
  • Excellent communication skills are critical to the success of this position and the ability to interact with a wide audience at all levels, including off-shore team members.
  • Strong teamwork is required while also possessing the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to guide and direct project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs.
  • Must present ideas to review boards.
  • Ability to work closely with architects to ensure proper system design.
  • Assists multiple team members and other project leads in the day-to-day activities related to project work.
  • Technical skills include the ability to write and execute SQL commands and queries, ability to produce designs for system applications, familiarity with HP-UX operating systems, and an understanding of data handling including Informix databases and middleware processing is preferred.
  • An understanding of basic network concepts is beneficial as well as a solid base in programming concepts and languages (Informix, VB, Java, C#, etc).
  • Must be able to anticipate hardware and software design needs.
  • Expert knowledge with databases.
  • 7-10 years of related experience.
  • Previous experience in technical project leadership role.
  • Retail/business experience a plus.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
-

Gather detail requirements from business users for approved large scale projects and small enhancements to existing projects.

Perform design for approved large scale projects and small enhancements to existing projects.

Perform program configuration/modification and set-up activities on large projects using specific HD process techniques.

Coordinate User Acceptance testing (UAT) with the Business Client. Provide System Requirement Documents (SRD) and Systems External Specifications (SES) documents to the UAT and System test groups, to assist with testing scenarios.

Coordinate training and rollout plans for new systems or enhancements to existing systems.

Provide expert technical direction to functional configurators and contractors.

Coordinate/collaborate with Architecture and Infrastructure Teams on best practices, design and environment setup.

Interface with Business Stakeholders, IT Infrastructure teams, Development teams to ensure that business requirements are properly configured within a software package.

NATURE AND SCOPE -

Typically reports to Manager or Sr. Manager, Information Technologies

No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may select team members and assess capabilities, provide technical training, provide information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 7+

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
