We have a full-time opening for a Assistant Hockey Coach.
Must be able to work various shifts per week.
Requirements
Routine Responsibilities:
- Communicates daily with the Hockey Club General Manager and Head Coach regarding hockey operation issues
- Recruiting, scouting (for K-Wings and opposition), player movement including but not limited to trades, waivers, IR, etc.
- Management and delegation of accountable personnel as deemed necessary (follow company policies and procedures where applicable)
- Motivation and discipline of all personnel he supervises; maintenance of records pertaining to same, goal setting, descipline, hiring, and terminations
- Knowledge, completion, and availability of all records and forms pertaining to personnel under your direction including player profile/background sheets, contracts, recruiting efforts, scouting reports, W4, I-9, expenses, insurance, medical forms, and subsequent rehabilitation
- Knowledge and adherence to ECHL Rules and Regulations including playing rules, roster guidelines, and salary cap requirements; monitor and execute player transactions on a timely basis
- Equipment inventory and ordering with Equipment manager
- Medical inventory and ordering with Athletic Trainer, while maintaining adequate supply on hand as needs dictate
- Player per diem and documentation
- Player travel documentation
- Travel itenerary including practice and lodging reservations to players and office personnel; coordinate home practice ice and visting teams practice ice with Ice Events Coordinator and/or Facility Events Manager of the facility
- Timely placement of player’s housing (minimize hotel stays in Kalamazoo), monthly inspections, and furniture inventory
- Organization and cleanliness of locker rooms
- Payment and documentation of player fines and bonuses
- Organization for training camp including reservations, invitations, rosters, and exhibition schedule
Special Abilities and Skills:
- Ability to communicate well, both written and orally
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with management, league officials, facility representatives, the media, fellow employees, and general public
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement on and off ice practices, game plans, and recruiting strategies
- Ability to generate new and creative ideas to motivate players and staff
- Ability to recognize potential problems and implement corrective actions
- Ability to prepare effective records
- Ability to work long, irregular hours
- Ability to motivate team
