Aerotek CE is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a growing company in Portland, OR. This is a direct placement opportunity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plans, conducts and directs the mechanical portion of engineering projects requiring the application of advanced knowledge in packaging of electrical/electronic assemblies for mobile devices, wearable technology, Internet of things, specialty vehicles, active lifestyles, medical and health care markets.
  • Originates mechanical design and applies new and unique techniques.
  • Develops the Mechanical Engineering aspects of quotes, including estimated times and material costs.
  • Translates customers' needs and system level documentation into appropriate mechanical functional, design and manufacturing specifications.
  • Creates and presents reports of technical feasibility and development results.
  • Plans, develops, and designs the mechanical and electromechanical aspects of new products.
  • Develops and maintains schedules for product design and documentation.
  • Creates, modifies, and maintains product design and manufacturing documentation.
  • Exerts design control.
  • Conducts design reviews.
  • Conducts or manages prototype testing, design verification, on a component ands system level.
  • Interacts with part suppliers, model makers, and manufacturing partners.
  • Ensures that all project documentation is complete, checked and approved prior to release.
  • Releases jobs on projects to production.
  • Plans engineering personnel workload and schedules.
  • Directs and leads assigned engineering staff.
  • Coordinates tasks and priorities with PM.
  • Monitors engineering cost, product cost, and schedule per job or project.
  • Generates Engineering Change Orders.
  • Engages in continuing professional education.
  • Assists in training and developing of personnel.
  • Generates new ideas and concepts for the improvement of Engineering Operations.
  • Travels as required.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • BS / BA degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Excellent analytical / critical thinking skills
  • Good communication skills, including experience writing technical documentation
  • Must be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of engineering work experience
  • 6+ years of experience with product development in a regulated environment (e.g., medical devices, motor vehicles, aeronautics
  • 4+ years of experience with development of electro-mechanical hardware
  • 4+ years of experience of hands-on experience with SolidWorks (or other parametric 3D solid modeler
  • 4+ years of experience in designing mass-produced components made of polymer and elastomer material
  • Familiarity with FEA, CFD and other modeling and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN, MATLAB/Simulink, LabView etc.)

Preferred Knowledge / Experience

  • Experience with electronic change management, and component engineering, code compliance and commercial product support processes
  • Familiarity with ISO, GMP or other design control quality processes as applicable to device development
  • Knowledge of quality system regulations and design controls, such as FDA CFR 21, Part 820, Subpart C (�� 820.30).
