About this job

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing and motivating a team to increase sales and ensure efficiency;
  • Managing stock levels and making key decisions about stock control;
  • Ordering, reviewing, and receiving of incoming stock;
  • Analyzing sales figures and forecasting future sales;
  • Analyzing and interpreting trends to facilitate planning;
  • Dealing with staffing issues such as interviewing potential staff and providing or organizing training and development;
  • Maintain store staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Ensuring standards for quality, customer service and health and safety are met;
  • Resolving health and safety, legal and security issues;
  • Responding to customer complaints and comments;
  • Organizing special promotions, displays and events;
  • Walking the sales floor regularly, talking to employees and customers, and identifying or resolving urgent issues;
  • Maintaining awareness of market trends in the retail industry, understanding forthcoming customer initiatives and monitoring what local competitors are doing;
  • Initiating changes to improve the business
  • Dealing with sales when required.
  • Maintain a balanced employee schedule so that all shifts/departments are properly covered.
  • Timely follow through with any duties/requests from higher management.

Job Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED equivalent
  • Prior experience in management
  • Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • Flexible availability that allows you to work 45 plus hours
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of his/her working time standing or moving around the store
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and order tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Retail or experience with animals preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and attention to detail
  • Ability to lead and teach your staff and interact effectively with others
