SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*

Participates in the attainment of departmental goals which are based on the following important aspects of care; nursing staff education and competency, nursing orientation and preceptor development, professional practice development, support of professional nursing in the community, patient and family education and community wellness.

Plans and implements a variety of educational programs based on the clinical staff's identified learning needs, competency deficiencies and performance improvement findings. Incorporates the patient safety goals into educational programs.

Evaluates educational programs through formal and informal mechanisms; shares results w/ management Recommends new courses or improvements based on feedback received.

Participates in a variety of hospital wide committees and department projects as directed.

Maintains accurate educational records in Healthstream.

Demonstrates commitment to personal professional development by seeking education opportunities and experiences to expand current knowledge base.

Serves as a clinical resource to staff and students.

EXPERIENCE

Required -- Minimum of three years hospital clinical experience. Minimum of one year teaching experience in a hospital setting.

Preferred -- Proven experience in program design and facilitation.

EDUCATION

Required -- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)

Preferred - Master's degree in Education or Nursing
