RN Emerg Department Full Time - Full-time / Part-time

Owned by Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), Coliseum Medical Centers is a 310 bed facility offering a 24-hour emergency room, inpatient and outpatient surgery options, rehabilitation programs, behavioral health and diagnostic services. In addition, CMC breadth of care options includes specialty facilities such as the Coliseum Heart Institute, an advanced cardiac center offering all services from non-invasive cardiology to open heart surgery, Coliseum Rehabilitation Center, Coliseum Robotics Institute, Coliseum Cancer Institute, Coliseum Center for Pelvic Health, Coliseum Diabetes Management Center, the Family Ties Birthing Center, which includes a level III neonatal nursery, Coliseum Pulmonary Center, and the Coliseum Center for Behavioral Health provides treatment to adults with psychiatric and addiction issues. This position is responsible for the delivery of quality patient care for the assigned hospital unit. The quality of care given will be in keeping with the philosophy, mission and values of the hospital and the Department of Nursing and will maintain and support the standards of nursing care and practice in order to meet the health care needs of patients, their families, and the community.

The ED RN identifies opportunities and participates in unit performance improvement activities as directed. The ED registered nurse is responsible for meeting Joint Commission standards, complying with all state and federal regulations, complying with corporate policy and procedures, managing supplies and equipment, promoting teamwork with physicians and all health care providers, promoting internal and external customer satisfaction, and managing resources appropriately.

*Patient Assessment/Documentation - Provides and documents patient care based on the nursing process in compliance with hospital policies and procedures. Plans, delegates and coordinates the nursing care of assigned patients. Utilizes basic physical and psychosocial assessment skills to identify actual nursing diagnosis/clinical problems based on assessment of patient and unique age specific needs.

*Patient Rights - The Registered Nurse will work to support and protect the rights of each patient served, treats each patient with dignity and care, and maintains patient confidentiality/privacy.

*Patient Safety - Demonstrates commitment to patient safety initiatives including patient falls, medication safety, National Patient Safety Goals, critical value reporting, and administration of blood products.

*Patient/Family Education - Provides appropriate patient/family education, per department and hospital policy and procedures.

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

*Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required:

*Acceptable degrees from an accredited school include: Diploma Program in Nursing, an Associate Degree in Nursing or a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION :

*RN License in this state required

*American Heart Association BLS Health Care Provider required

*Successful completion of ACLS-(Advanced Cardiac Life Support) within 6 months of entering this position

*Successful completion of an EKG recognition and treatment certification within 6 months of entering this position

*Successful completion of PALS/ TNCC (if applicable)/CPI within one year of entering this position (if applicable)

EXPERIENCE:

*One year Emergency Department or Critical Care Nursing experience preferred
